Target Information
CD61 (GPIIIa, ITGB3) is a glycoprotein found on megakaryocytes, platelets, and their precursors. It functions as a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor, and vitronectin, playing a key role in platelet aggregation.
CD61 (105 kDa) associates with alpha IIb integrin (CD41) or alpha V integrin (CD51) at the cell surface. It is expressed on platelets, megakaryocytes, endothelial cells, monocytes, and osteoclasts.
The CD61 protein consists of alpha and beta chains, which can combine with multiple partners to form different integrins.
Diseases associated with CD61 dysfunction include Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Platelet type-16 Bleeding Disorder.
