Target Information
GHRL encodes ghrelin-obestatin preproprotein, which generates ghrelin and obestatin.
- Ghrelin: Ligand for the growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1; regulates growth hormone release, stimulates appetite, induces adiposity, and stimulates gastric acid secretion.
- Obestatin: May be ligand for the orphan G protein-coupled receptor GPR39; involved in satiety and may reduce appetite and food intake.
