Interleukin-12 (IL-12)는 natural killer cell stimulatory factor (NKSF)[1], cytotoxic T lymphocyte maturation factor (CLMF)[2–3] 또는 p70[4]으로도 알려진 면역조절 사이토카인입니다. IL-12는 이황화 결합으로 연결된 IL-12B (p40) 및 IL-12A (p35) 소단위체로 구성됩니다.

IL-12는 주로 활성화된 대식세포와 수지상세포에서 생성되며, 다양한 다면발현성 기능을 나타냅니다. 인터페론 감마(IFN-γ) 생성을 유도하고, Th1 세포 분화를 촉진하며, T 세포를 활성화하고, NK 세포 증식을 자극합니다. 이러한 기능은 IL-12가 이종이량체성 막관통 수용체 복합체에 결합함으로써 매개됩니다[5].
