JHDM1D는 히스톤 탈메틸화 효소로, 히스톤 H3의 dimethylated Lys-9 (H3K9me2) 및 Lys-27 (H3K27me2)를 특이적으로 탈메틸화하여 히스톤 코드 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
H3K4me3가 존재할 경우 H3K9me2에 대한 활성은 없고, H3K27me2에 대해 높은 활성을 나타냅니다. H3K4me3가 없을 때는 H3K9me2를 탈메틸화합니다.
