Target Information
The FOXP1 gene belongs to the forkhead box (FOX) transcription factor family, which regulates tissue- and cell type-specific gene transcription during development and adulthood. The FOXP1 protein contains both DNA-binding and protein-protein interaction domains. It may function as a tumor suppressor, being lost in several tumor types, and is located on chromosome 3p14.1, a region associated with tumor suppressor genes. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
