Target Information
CD79a is a disulphide-linked heterodimer including the B29 (CD79b) polypeptide. It functions as part of the B lymphocyte antigen receptor complex, associating with Ig-alpha and Ig-beta, which are essential for B-cell receptor expression and signaling.
CD79a expression begins at the pre-B cell stage and continues to the plasma cell stage, where it becomes intracellular. It is found in most precursor B-cell acute leukemias, B-cell lines, lymphomas, and some myelomas, but absent in myeloid or T-cell lines.
Diseases associated with CD79a include Agammaglobulinemia 3 and Agammaglobulinemia, Non-Bruton type.
