Colocalizes with OSBPL1A at the late endosome (PubMed:16176980). Found in the ruffled border (a late endosomal-like compartment in the plasma membrane) of bone-resorbing osteoclasts. Recruited to phagosomes containing S. aureus or Mycobacterium (PubMed:21255).

RAB 단백질군은 소형 RAS 관련 GTP 결합 단백질로, 소포 수송의 중요한 조절자입니다. 각 RAB 단백질은 분비 및 내포 경로에서 작용하는 여러 단백질을 표적화합니다.
이 유전자는 후기 엔도솜 및 리소좀으로의 소포 이동을 조절하는 RAB 단백질을 암호화하며, Helicobacter pylori의 VacA 세포독소에 의한 세포 내 공포화에도 관여합니다.
보존된 아미노산 잔기에서의 돌연변이는 일부 Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) type 2 신경병증을 유발할 수 있습니다. (RefSeq, Jul 2008)
