Target Information
Apolipoproteins act as stabilizers of intact lipoprotein particles, with at least nine distinct polymorphic forms known. Quantitative measurements of HDL, LDL, and VLDL particles in human serum are used to estimate coronary heart disease risk. Immunological measurements of apolipoproteins A-I and B can provide more accurate estimations of disease risk than lipoprotein particle measurements. These apolipoproteins are derived from human plasma by density gradient ultracentrifugation and HPLC.
