This antibody detects rhesus macaque IFN-gamma in ELISAs and Western blots.
In sandwich ELISAs, less than 30% cross-reactivity with recombinant human IFN-gamma is observed, and less than 0.1% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse, rat, porcine, canine, cotton rat, and feline IFN-gamma is observed.

Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody by the LAL method.

Target Information

IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor produced primarily by T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells in response to antigens, mitogens, and cytokines.
It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits. On SDS-PAGE, it appears as 25, 20, and minor 15.5 kDa bands due to differential glycosylation.

The biological activity of IFN gamma is highly species-specific; human IFN gamma does not cross-react with mouse IFN gamma.
Functions include:

• Antiviral and antiproliferative activity
• Induction of class I and II MHC
• Macrophage activation
• Enhancement of immunoglobulin secretion by B lymphocytes

IFN gamma acts through the JAK-STAT pathway via receptor I and II binding and is regulated by cytokines such as IL2, FGF basic, and EGF. It is downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN.
Mutations in the IFN gamma gene are associated with aplastic anemia.
