  • The peptide is homologous in rat, mouse, and xenopus.
  • Specificity: Recognizes both VAMP2 and VAMP1.

Target Information

Vesicle-associated membrane protein 2 (VAMP2) is essential for cAMP-regulated exocytosis. Also known as synaptobrevin, it is part of the synaptic vesicle docking and fusion complex and plays a central role in neuroexocytosis.
Two isoforms, VAMP1 and VAMP2, are expressed in the nervous system and various tissues including kidney, adrenal gland, liver, pancreas, thyroid, heart, and smooth muscle.
VAMP1 is mainly found in exocrine pancreas and kidney tubular cells, while VAMP2 predominates in Langerhans islets and glomerular cells. Both show vesicular intracellular distribution.
Neuronal VAMP proteins are important for cellular physiology across tissues.
