Background
A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are a group of structurally diverse proteins that bind to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA), confining the holoenzyme to specific locations within the cell.
This gene encodes a member of the AKAP family. Alternative splicing results in isoforms localized to the centrosome and Golgi apparatus, interacting with multiple signaling proteins such as type II PKA, protein kinase N, protein phosphatases 1 and 2A, protein kinase C-epsilon, and phosphodiesterase 4D3.
