Background
The CCL14 gene encodes a chemokine belonging to the CC cytokine family, which are secreted proteins characterized by two adjacent cysteines. These cytokines induce intracellular calcium changes and enzyme release in monocytes. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. Additionally, read-through transcripts including exons from the upstream CCL15 gene are expressed (GeneID: 348249).
