• Isoform 2: Nucleus and cytoplasm, predominantly nuclear, not associated with membranes.
• Processed CREB3: Nucleus upon RIP activation; translocates into nucleus during dendritic cell maturation.

배경

CREB3는 leucine zipper 계열의 DNA 결합 전사 인자로, cAMP-response element에 결합하여 세포 증식을 조절합니다. 이 단백질은 host cell factor C1과 상호작용하며, HSV 단백질 VP16과 함께 HSV 즉시 초기 유전자 전사를 유도합니다. CREB3와 HCFC1의 상호작용은 HSV 감염 시 잠복기 형성에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 또한, 백혈구 이동, 종양 억제, ER 스트레스 관련 단백질 분해에 관여합니다. 추가 전사 변이체가 보고되었으나 생물학적 유효성은 아직 확립되지 않았습니다. (RefSeq, Nov 2009)
