Target Information
STRAP is a 350-amino-acid MAP activator containing WD-40 repeats, localized in both cytoplasm and nucleus. It acts as an inhibitor of TGF-beta signaling and regulates cell proliferation. Stable expression of STRAP activates MAPK/ERK pathways and downregulates p21 (Cip1), leading to retinoblastoma protein hyperphosphorylation. Upregulation of STRAP may contribute to tumorigenesis, particularly in early colorectal cancer development. It is a key component of the U snRNP assembly machinery, interacting with the SMN complex in a compartment-specific manner and influencing intracellular SMN1 distribution.
