PPP5C 유전자는 serine/threonine phosphatase를 암호화하며, 단백질 인산화 조절에 관여하는 phosphatase catalytic subunit family에 속합니다. 이 단백질은 세포 성장과 분화 조절에 관련된 신호 전달 경로에 참여하며, 호르몬 또는 세포 스트레스 반응 경로에서도 역할을 합니다. PPP5C의 발현이 증가하면 유방암 발생과 관련될 수 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 전사체 변이가 생성됩니다.
