Target Information
BCL-2는 세포사멸(apoptosis)의 핵심 조절 인자로, 세포 사멸을 억제하거나 촉진하는 기능을 수행합니다. BCL-2 패밀리 단백질들은 서로 이합체를 형성하여 세포사멸을 조절하며, 예를 들어 Bag1은 BCL-2와 이합체를 형성하여 항-세포사멸 효과를 강화합니다. Bax와 Bak은 미토콘드리아로부터 cytochrome c 방출을 유도하여 세포사멸을 개시하는 데 중요한 역할을 합니다.
BCL-2의 지속적 발현은 여포성 림프종(follicular lymphoma)과 같은 암의 원인으로 알려져 있으며, 인간 B-cell lymphoma 및 전립선암 등 다양한 암과 관련이 있습니다. BCL-2 유전자는 대체 스플라이싱에 의해 두 가지 전사 변이체를 생성하며, 이들은 C-말단 서열이 다릅니다.
