Target Information

The MYOT gene encodes a cytoskeletal protein involved in maintaining thin filament stability during muscle contraction. It binds F-actin, crosslinks actin filaments, and prevents latrunculin A-induced filament disassembly. Mutations in this gene are linked to limb-girdle muscular dystrophy and myofibrillar myopathies. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, though the full-length nature of some remains undetermined.
