Target Information
CCR8 encodes a member of the beta chemokine receptor family, predicted to be a seven transmembrane protein similar to G protein-coupled receptors. Chemokines and their receptors play essential roles in cell migration to inflammatory sites. CCR8 is preferentially expressed in the thymus, with ligands including I-309, TARC, and MIP-1β. The receptor is involved in monocyte chemotaxis, thymic cell apoptosis, and positioning of activated T cells in lymphoid tissues. CCR8 expression has been reported in spleen, thymus, NK cells, monocytes, and T cells, with lower levels in peripheral blood leukocytes.
