Target Information
Casein kinase I (CKI) and casein kinase II (CKII) are families of serine/threonine protein kinases found in all eukaryotes. CKI isoforms (α, γ, ε, δ) are involved in cytoplasmic and nuclear processes such as DNA replication and repair. CKII typically exists as a tetrameric complex (α2β2 or αα′β2), with the β regulatory subunit stimulating the α catalytic subunit and undergoing autophosphorylation. CKII activity is high in proliferating and differentiating cells and phosphorylates numerous substrates including nuclear oncoproteins, transcription factors, and enzymes related to DNA metabolism.
