Glucocorticoid Receptor (NR3C1)는 글루코코르티코이드의 수용체로서 전사 인자(transcription factor)로 작용하며, 다른 전사 인자들의 조절에도 관여합니다.
이 수용체는 열충격 단백질 및 면역필린과 복합체를 형성하여 세포질에서 존재하다가, 리간드 결합 시 핵으로 이동합니다.
심장(좌/우 심방, 좌/우 심실, 대동맥, 심첨부, 중격, 방실결절 등)에서 발현되며, 다양한 프로모터와 스플라이싱 변이에 의해 여러 isoform이 존재합니다.
Glucocorticoid Receptor 유전자의 돌연변이는 글루코코르티코이드 저항성(코르티솔 저항성)을 유발할 수 있습니다.
활성화를 위해 샤페론 단백질 복합체와 결합해야 하며, dexamethasone과 같은 스테로이드에 나노몰 농도 수준의 결합 친화도를 보입니다.
