VLDLR (very low density lipoprotein receptor)는 LDL receptor gene family의 구성원으로, LDL receptor, LRP, megalin, VLDLR 및 ApoER2 등을 포함합니다. 이 가족은 cysteine-rich class A repeats, EGF-like repeats, YWTD repeats, O-linked sugar domain 등의 특징을 가집니다.
VLDLR은 RAP(receptor associated protein)과 결합하여 수용체 접힘을 돕고, RAP은 VLDLR의 세포외 영역 분비를 촉진합니다. 또한 VLDLR은 extracellular Reelin과 cytosolic mDab1(mammalian disabled protein)의 상호작용을 매개하여 tyrosine kinase를 활성화시키는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 이는 뇌 발달 중 신경세포의 이동을 조절하는 경로에 관여합니다.
