Antibody detects endogenous levels of total TRF2.
Target Information
TRF2 is a ubiquitously expressed protein implicated in the control of telomere length. Like TRF1, TRF2 contains a Myb-related DNA binding motif and binds to duplex TTAGGG repeats, localizing to all human telomeres in metaphase chromosomes. It is thought to protect chromosome ends by maintaining correct telomere structure. Mutant forms of TRF2 have been linked to the prevention of senescence in primary human cells, and inhibition of TRF2 has been shown to induce apoptosis in certain mammalian cell types.
