Target Information
The TSH Receptor gene encodes a membrane protein that plays a key role in controlling thyroid cell metabolism. It serves as a receptor for thyrotropin and thyrostimulin, with signaling mediated by adenylate cyclase. Mutations in this gene are associated with several forms of hyperthyroidism. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
