Target Information
This gene encodes one of the translation initiation factors that stimulates protein synthesis initiation at the level of mRNA utilization. It is deleted in Williams syndrome, a developmental disorder caused by deletion of contiguous genes at 7q11.23. Alternative splicing generates two transcript variants.
