Target Information
The aldehyde dehydrogenases are a family of isozymes that play a major role in detoxifying aldehydes generated by alcohol metabolism and lipid peroxidation. The ALDH3B1 gene spans approximately 20 kb of genomic DNA and includes 9 coding exons. It is highly expressed in kidney and lung. The functional significance and cellular localization of the protein are currently unknown. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
