Target Information
POU5F1 (Oct-4) is a maternally expressed octamer-binding transcription factor involved in early embryonic development. It plays a key role in maintaining pluripotency and has applications in stem cell research and regenerative medicine. Expression of POU5F1 along with Sox2, Klf4, Lin28, and c-Myc can generate induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells from mouse fibroblasts. Recent studies show that iPS cells can be produced via plasmid expression without viral introduction, improving safety for potential therapeutic use.
