Goats were immunized with S-Tag (KETAAAKFERQHMDS) conjugated to KLH. The antibody was isolated by affinity chromatography using the peptide immobilized on a solid support.

Target Information

The S-Peptide epitope tag (S-Tag™) is widely used for applications such as localization analysis, expression detection, and purification of polypeptides from mammalian cells.
Its small size (15 amino acids), ability to purify tagged polypeptides without antibodies, and minimal endogenous reactivity in mammalian cells make it an attractive alternative to many existing epitope tags.

Epitope tagging is a versatile strategy for detecting and purifying proteins expressed by cloned genes. Protein expression vectors are engineered with a nucleotide sequence encoding the peptide epitope tag, allowing the protein of interest to be synthesized as a fusion protein. Detection and purification are then mediated by highly specific antibodies to the engineered peptide, eliminating the need for antibodies against each newly cloned protein.
