Target Information
CPA1 (Carboxypeptidase A1), also known as CPA, is a 419 amino acid secreted monomeric protein highly expressed in pancreatic tissue.
It functions as a pancreatic exopeptidase using zinc as a cofactor to catalyze the release of C-terminal amino acids from various proteins, playing a key role in protein digestion and degradation.
CPA1 may also be involved in zymogen inhibition, preventing premature enzyme activation.
Abnormal CPA1 expression levels have been associated with pancreatic cancer, suggesting a potential role in tumor progression or suppression.
