Target Information
ZNF598 (E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase ZNF598) plays a key role in the ribosome quality control (RQC).
RQC is a pathway that occurs when a ribosome stalls during translation.
ZNF598 mediates monoubiquitination of ribosomal proteins RPS10/eS10 and RPS3/uS3, enabling terminal stalling during translation of poly(A) sequences.
This mechanism prevents synthesis of aberrant poly-lysine tails and initiates the RQC pathway to degrade potentially detrimental nascent polypeptides.
