STRA6은 레티놀 대사에 관여하는 막 단백질로, retinol/retinol binding protein 복합체의 수용체 역할을 합니다. 이 단백질은 복합체로부터 레티놀을 분리하여 세포막을 통과시킵니다. 이 유전자의 결함은 syndromic microphthalmia type 9 (MCOPS9)의 원인이 될 수 있습니다.
