이 패밀리 단백질들은 propeptide 영역, metalloproteinase 도메인, disintegrin-like 도메인, thrombospondin type 1 (TS) 모티프 등을 포함합니다.
ADAMTS13는 von Willebrand Factor (vWF)-cleaving protease로서, vWF 분자의 Tyr842-Met843 부위를 절단합니다.
이 효소의 결핍은 thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura와 관련이 있습니다.
