Target Information

The S-Peptide epitope tag (S-Tag™) is widely used for localization analysis, expression detection, and purification of polypeptides from mammalian cells.
Its small size (15 amino acids), ability to purify tagged proteins without antibodies, and minimal cross-reactivity with endogenous mammalian proteins make it an excellent choice among epitope tags.

Epitope tagging enables detection and purification of proteins expressed by cloned genes.
Protein expression vectors are engineered to include a nucleotide sequence encoding the peptide tag, producing a fusion protein upon expression.
Detection and purification are then mediated by specific antibodies to the tag, eliminating the need for target-specific antibodies.
