Target Information
Slc6a13 catalyzes sodium and chloride dependent transport of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) to terminate GABA-mediated synaptic activity. It acts as a high-affinity GABA transporter, terminating biological actions of GABA by reuptake into cells using sodium and chloride gradients. Slc6a13 may also facilitate beta-alanine transport.
Diseases associated with SLC6A13 include Traumatic Glaucoma and Neovascular Glaucoma.
