Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with Ku80, an 80 kDa subunit of Ku autoantigen (heterodimer of 72 and 87 kDa intracellular polypeptides). Ku autoantigen is involved in DNA repair and in V(D)J recombination through its ability to bind DNA double-strand breaks.
Immunocytochemistry: PFA-fixation possible.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is the 80-kilodalton subunit of the Ku heterodimer protein, also known as ATP-dependent DNA helicase II or DNA repair protein XRCC5. Ku is the DNA-binding component of the DNA-dependent protein kinase and functions with the DNA ligase IV-XRCC4 complex in DNA double-strand break repair by non-homologous end joining and completion of V(D)J recombination events.
A rare microsatellite polymorphism in this gene is associated with cancer in patients of varying radiosensitivity.
