Target Information

LIPG (Lipase G, Endothelial type) is an endothelial lipase and a member of the lipoprotein lipase gene family. It is synthesized by endothelial cells and functions locally to modulate lipoprotein metabolism. Overexpression of LIPG reduces HDL cholesterol, while deficiency increases HDL levels in animals. LIPG exhibits phospholipase activity and plays a role in vascular biology and lipid metabolism. It is a carboxyl esterase that hydrolyzes HDL, emulsifies triglycerides, and aids in dietary fat digestion.
