This antibody detects endogenous levels of total IKBIP protein.
Target Information
IKIP (Inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa-B kinase-interacting protein, IKK-interacting protein) is a single-pass membrane protein that shares a common promoter with APAF1. Both APAF1 and IKIP are induced by X irradiation, but are transcribed in opposite directions. The IKIP gene is considered a p53 target, as its expression promotes apoptosis. IKIP has four known isoforms, three traversing the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, while isoform 4 lacks the transmembrane region, resulting in homogeneous intracellular distribution. IKIP is expressed in vascular endothelial cells, with isoform 4 also found in lung, kidney, spleen, thymus, and skeletal muscle.
