Target Information
The collapsin response mediator protein (CRMP) family (also referred to as ULIP6) comprises neurologic proteins involved in growth cone guidance during neural development. CRMP5 shows relatively low sequence homology with other CRMP family members and is expressed in the developing nervous system, peaking during the first postnatal week. Elevated levels of autoantibodies against CRMP5 have been associated with paraneoplastic autoimmune optic neuritis and other paraneoplastic syndromes. Autoimmunity against CRMP5, particularly at N-terminal epitopes, is under investigation as an oncological marker in the respiratory system and thymus.
