Target Information
ERAL1 encodes a mitochondrial GTPase that binds to the 3′ terminal stem loop of 12S mitochondrial rRNA and is essential for assembly of the 28S small mitochondrial ribosomal subunit. Deletion of ERAL1 causes mitochondrial dysfunction, growth retardation, and apoptosis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms exist.
