Target Information
Acyl-Coenzyme A oxidase 3 (ACOX3), also known as pristanoyl-CoA oxidase, participates in the desaturation of 2-methyl branched fatty acids within peroxisomes. In humans, ACOX3 expression in the liver is very low and often undetectable by standard assays. The human cDNA encodes a 700 amino acid protein with a peroxisomal targeting sequence (S-K-L) and may be expressed under specific developmental or tissue-specific conditions.
