Target Information
ZFPM1 is a transcription regulator that plays an essential role in erythroid and megakaryocytic cell differentiation. It acts as a cofactor forming heterodimers with GATA family transcription factors (GATA1, GATA2, GATA3), modulating transcriptional activity depending on cellular and promoter context. The ZFPM1-GATA complex activates genes such as NFE2, ITGA2B, and alpha/beta-globin, while repressing KLF1 expression. ZFPM1 may also regulate genes in gonads and contribute to cardiac development in coordination with ZFPM2/FOG2.
