Target Information
Tyrosine phosphorylation plays a key role in mitogenic signal transduction from transmembrane receptors and in oncogene tyrosine kinase-mediated transformation. Phosphorylation of specific tyrosine residues is a primary mechanism in normal mitogenesis, cell cycle progression, and oncogenic transformation. Its involvement in differentiation and gap junction communication remains an active research area.
Antibodies that specifically recognize phosphorylated tyrosine residues are invaluable tools for studying tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins and their biochemical pathways. The fluorescein (FITC) conjugate of clone PY20 anti-phosphotyrosine is particularly useful for detecting P-Tyr proteins in immunohistochemical and immunocytochemical assays, where the use of a secondary antibody may complicate detection.
