LIMK1은 cofilin의 인산화를 통해 actin 세포골격 변화를 조절하는 serine/threonine kinase입니다. 또한 뇌 발달과 관련이 있으며, LIM 도메인은 두 개의 아연 손가락 구조를 포함하는 고도로 보존된 시스테인 풍부 구조입니다. LIMK1은 세포 내 신호전달 경로의 구성요소로 추정되며, Williams 증후군에서의 시공간 인지 장애와 관련된 것으로 보고되었습니다.
