Target Information
WASHC1 (WASH1) is a protein-coding gene involved in endocytosis and acts as a nucleation-promoting factor (NPF) at endosome surfaces. It recruits and activates the Arp2/3 complex to induce actin polymerization, playing a critical role in endosomal tubule fission and sorting.
Key functional roles include:
- Regulation of endocytic trafficking of EGF and transferrin receptor recycling
- Control of integrin α5β1 trafficking to the plasma membrane
- Involvement in T-cell receptor recycling and MHC class II trafficking in dendritic cells
- Participation in Arp2/3 complex-dependent actin assembly during Salmonella typhimurium invasion
- Contribution to MMP14 exocytosis and matrix remodeling during invasive migration
