Target Information
Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases are enzymes that charge tRNAs with their cognate amino acids. The HARS gene encodes a cytoplasmic class II aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase responsible for histidyl-transfer RNA synthesis, essential for histidine incorporation into proteins. Located on chromosome 5, it shares a bidirectional promoter with HARSL. The HARS protein is a known autoantibody target in polymyositis/dermatomyositis.
