Target Information
RCC1 (Regulator of Chromosome Condensation 1) is a guanine-nucleotide releasing factor that promotes the exchange of Ran-bound GDP by GTP. It regulates chromosome condensation during the S phase, binds nucleosomes and double-stranded DNA, and functions as part of a signal pathway detecting unreplicated DNA. The RCC1-Ran complex plays a crucial role in nucleo-cytoplasmic transport, mitosis, and nuclear-envelope assembly.
