Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
Napsin 1 is an aspartic protease primarily expressed in the lung and also found in kidney and metastatic carcinomas. It processes surfactant protein B in healthy pulmonary and renal tissues but is dysregulated in carcinogenesis.
Napsin evaluation is useful for identifying several cancers and differentiating primary tumors from metastases. Combined with thyroid transcription factor analysis, it serves as a specific biomarker for carcinoma type differentiation.
Napsin has also been associated with pulmonary alveolar proteinosis and protein catabolism in renal tubules.
