Target Information
CDK1 (Cell Division Control protein 1) is essential for the completion of START, the controlling event in the cell cycle required to initiate mitosis. CDK1 acts as the catalytic subunit of the M-Phase Promoting Factor, a protein kinase complex that induces entry into mitosis and is conserved among eukaryotes. Phosphorylation of Bcl-2 during G2/M phase arrest involves CDK1-mediated signaling and delays apoptosis onset. CDK inhibitors, such as NU2058, have demonstrated therapeutic potential in androgen-independent prostate cancer.
