Target Information
The cytochrome c oxidase (COX) family of proteins functions as the final electron donor in the respiratory chain, driving a proton gradient across the inner mitochondrial membrane and resulting in water production.
The mammalian COX apoenzyme is a dimer composed of 13 subunits per monomer, some mitochondrial and some nuclear.
COX6B2 (Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 6B2), also known as Cytochrome c oxidase subunit VIb isoform 2 and Cancer/testis antigen 59, is an 88 amino acid mitochondrial protein localized to the intermembrane space. It joins two COX monomers to form the COX dimer and is specifically expressed in testis, with upregulation observed in certain cancer cell lines.
