Target Information
Tight junctions are one of the key modes of cell-to-cell adhesion in epithelial or endothelial cell sheets, forming continuous seals around cells and acting as a physical barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space.
The JAM2 protein, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, is localized in tight junctions between high endothelial cells. It functions as an adhesive ligand for various immune cell types and may play a role in lymphocyte homing to secondary lymphoid organs.
