Target Information
GADD153 (also known as CHOP) is a small nuclear protein capable of dimerizing with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. The resulting complex inhibits normal C/EBP binding and function, while gaining binding activity to non-classical stress-related targets. Under normal conditions, GADD153 expression is low, but it is highly upregulated during cellular or ER stress, such as treatment with tunicamycin, nutrient starvation, or interference with calcium flux across the ER membrane.
